Privacy Policy

TravelTote (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a travel packing-list app. This policy explains what data the app handles and how. We have tried to keep it simple because the app is built to keep your information on your device.

Summary

• TravelTote does not require an account.
• We do not collect, store, sell, or share your personal data on our own servers.
• We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
• Your trips, packing items, bags, and notes are stored locally on your device.
• Some features send the destination and item names you enter to third-party services to return results (AI suggestions, weather, and travel advisories).

Information stored on your device

When you create trips and packing lists, the following is saved locally on your device using Apple’s on-device storage (SwiftData):

• Trip names, destinations, and dates
• Packing items, quantities, notes, categories, and packed/unpacked status
• Bags and airline weight limits you add

This data stays on your device. It is included in your device/iCloud device backups if you have those enabled, but it is not transmitted to us.

Information shared with third parties

To provide certain features, the app sends limited information to third-party services. We do not send your name, contacts, or device identifiers. Specifically:

• AI packing suggestions and weight estimates — The destination, trip dates/duration, and the item names you choose to estimate are sent to Groq, Inc. to generate suggestions and weight estimates. See Groq’s privacy policy at groq.com/privacy-policy.
• Weather forecasts — Your trip destination is sent to Open-Meteo to retrieve a forecast. See open-meteo.com/en/terms.
• Travel advisories — Your destination country is used to look up advisories from the U.S. Department of State travel advisory service (travel.state.gov).
• Destination search — As you type a destination, the text is sent to Apple MapKit to provide location suggestions. See Apple’s privacy policy at apple.com/legal/privacy.

We only send this information when you use the relevant feature. We do not control how these third parties process requests; please review their policies.

Location

TravelTote does not access your device’s GPS or precise location. “Destination” is text that you type and select; weather is based on that destination, not on your device’s location.

Children’s privacy

TravelTote is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data retention and deletion

Because trip data is stored only on your device, you can delete it at any time by deleting a trip or by deleting the app. We do not retain copies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
